It's funny how he thinks he can speak for both SEGA and the consumers; especially in japan. Why is online so essential when they have an abundance of arcades?Â

[QUOTE="Felous1"]He's assuming online is having an impact on sales in Japan.jvonraderJust what I was thinking. Then again, it's surprising how many Japanese players I run into playing Team Elimination in Lost Planet. Observation: It's FAR easier to find one such Japanese gamer in a Team Elimination match than just normal Elimination. so japanese actually buy 360s? wow .

you guys just dont understand how online can definatly kill the gameplay and make it useless. SupraGT

that's what i am saying. the experience is totally killed. even if you had perfect connections, it still wont be enough b/c the information will still have to take time to transfer.

But then you can look at it like this.
Why pay almost $600 US equvilant for a game you can play at the arcade for a lot lot LOT less?

you guys just dont understand how online can definatly kill the gameplay and make it useless. They'd have to change the whole fighting engine in order for it to be a decent online experience. I dont know what all the praise is for DOA online. There's nothing good about it. The games move frames work at 30 fps while the game itself runs at 60fps, but there is still terrible lag.SupraGT

So you can play it at home whenever you want and on your own time.

And how many people are doing that right now? Evidently not too many.
[QUOTE="LosDaddie"]Wow.....1up owned Sega. I would've paid to see the SEga guy's facial expression after that question.I doubt it would make a difference if the 360 had online. Because I bet the 360 version will sell like crap in Japan. And their arcade machines only exist there anyway... I was referring to NA sales.....but Sega knows that they will have their apologists who will back any decision they make.Felous1
No excuse at all for not including online.
If Sega, or Namco for that matter, is worried about frame data lagging due to latency, that can always be solved in future updates when Sega and Namco find a solution.
It's obvious a online Tekken or SC or VF threaten the arcade business, and that is why the feature is left out.
Team Ninja is not focused nor heavily involved in the arcade sector, so online is a no brainer on DOA.

Patience, grasshopper. 8)
eh alot of those number are wrong..pretty sure Halo2 and MGS sold more...VF4 only sold 0.55 million units in Japan and 1.70 million units worldwide

Thus online is only left to the casuals in the market that dont care much.

I'm suprised a level 44 bumped a thread from 2 years ago.

And even with its problems its still accepted by its fans. Why can't Sega do the same with VF. We all know online fighters aren't the same as offline but we still want them anyways.

I have reached my conclusion after the release of tekken, vf, and doa

The person you quoted however, got banned from these forums over a year ago so, bumping it to reply to him is pointless at this point.[QUOTE="Blackbond"][QUOTE="SupraGT"]you guys just dont understand how online can definatly kill the gameplay and make it useless. It's a shame about that really, VF failed online, it just doesn't work. We aren't there yet.

I don't think we will ever be to offline quality. In some cases it is close enough, but you still have to deal with the random jitter. It's will never replace the arcade cabinet. That's one reason why SSF4 will be released in the arcades soon.
ah man I miss some of these posters, whaddya have to go and bump this for :P
I can't imagine someone would miss out on this game because of a lack of an online feature though.
But I guess so.
